Edit: I guess I never specified I already have my own Rampage. This is just about the topper.
The is the first one I’ve ever found for sale. I’ve seen pictures of them for a Rampage but never the actual canopy. I don’t think I’d use it a ton, but could be handy for cargo loads, and maybe keeping snow out in the winter.

I think it could be very useful. What are the odds you’ll find another if you pass on it?

Front drivers side has a crack, doesn’t seem to seal that corner. It does looks fixable

You won't find another and it could be useful. I say go for it if it's not too expensive.

If you can deal with whatever is going on with the front driver’s side (probably fixable), go grab it now.

If they are rare I would think about it. I have a hard top for my truck that I probably won’t use, but early originals can sell for $1000 in bad shape.

Yes. At this point in it’s life, what’s the harm? Either you’ll get good use out of it, or you can just resell it at the same price.

I think it’s a once-in-a-lifetime thing. They never made many Rampages in the first place and it’s been forty years since then.

$250 is something where if you spend it and it doesn’t work out, you probably won’t regret trying THAT badly
$250 is also something where if you don’t spend it, you’ll regret it a few weeks from now
because it was “only” $250
Buy it!

I already have my own Rampage... I don’t think two would be advisable to me living anymore. (Wife is watching me type this)

I know! I was referring to the front lower driver’s side of the topper!
Something looks funky there, but I would grab it if that’s fixable.

In the last 5 years I think I’ve seen 4 Rampages total, one on the road and three with weeds growing around them, and none of them had cappers.

Why not? Presumably if it ends up being clutter, you can just sell it for about the same (though you might have to be on the hunt for other Rampage owners).

Ah. I feel like fibreglass is usually repairable . Plus I’d likely get it professionally painted if/when I get the trucklet done.

Likely could resell it... but to whom? I’ve yet to see another operational Rampage around here. But I suppose I’ve spent more money on dumber stuff.

I have an El Camino and I think a topper would make it useless. Plus, the first time you want to put something too large for the topper you’re going to take it off and never put it back on.
It's also not good looking.

Firstly. I’m gonna need to see a picture of said El Camino. I don’t think I’d use it all the time. But we might, and I stress might, eventually do an engine swap on the Rampage and tow our teardrop with it for camping. It’d be handy to keep stuff under then.

How funny, I am spending the day making a list of materials needed to build a teardrop! I’m not using wood because I am a glutton for punishment. I planned on getting a lockable storage box to bolt in the bed of the cruck when we go camp.

I like the 2-tone. Auto or manual? Also, must be nice to have a more powerful engine. The Rampage has a little transverse 4 banger. Has lots of driving pep, but not a lot of grunt.
Good luck with the trailer build. We bought ours years ago and it’s been pretty nice. Outside kitchens are the best.

Thanks. The paint is a respray - it was originally white. It has some issues with the clear coat, but I have a buddy that will prep and paint it for short money, so that’s cool. This has a 350 swapped in and is automatic. Sometimes I wish it was a stick, but it’s certainly not needed. I installed Holley Sniper fuel injection and it makes it a very nice cruiser. I’d love to find a solid Rampage, I love them.
Thanks, trailer build should be fun! Going to make it out of Coosa which is a composite material that won’t rot and is easy to work with. I used it for my boat deck as well.

I feel like I should’ve used a Sniper kit on my Eagle for easier install than the MOPAR kit I used.... maybe I’ll do that with the rampage at some point with an engine / trans rebuild vs an outright swap.

I like the Holley system. It was easy to install and works. Fired up the first turn of the key. Only downside is the cost, but I figure since it makes it so much more enjoyable it was worth it.
sn4cktimes
> Sovande
10/16/2020 at 15:14 | 1 |
The MOPAR kit wasn’t cheap either. It included new a new pulley, air intake, intake manifold with injectors, all the fuel hosing/pump/filter, signal controlled distributor, sensors, ECU and wiring harness. But what it DOESN’T have is any easy way to pull codes or change any programming. I feel like Holley makes the components for me to adapt what I’ve got hardware wise to work with their ECU and programmers, but I don’t even know where to get started on that. Plus it’ll cost a WHOLE bunch of monies.

Hm, yes, I shall share. My Rampage is in quite a bit rougher shape than your EC. I need to get it sandblasted and have some actual professionals have a go at it. I don’t seem to have any “non doing truck stuff” pictures on my phone.

I was trying to have a sort sketchy guy do a grey market trade-cheap-Korean-Motorcycle -for-a-paint-job kind of deal. It went poorly and I went and took my truck away from him after many months of basically no progress and terrible quality work. I like the colour but he didn’t sand/prep enough AND tried to get away with a single stage paint and it’s super orange peeling and just straight up peeling all over the place. I got the truck you see. What I wanted was this:
I think I may stick to that OR might do something more like this when I get it done professionally:

Hmm. You could always pick it up if it’s a reasonable price and hold on to it for whenever. Just in case. Or if you hate it, sell it for a profit as a RARE BOI to other Rampage owners.

Yeah. It’s basically a small car with a bed. It 100% drives like a car too. I’ve driven it pretty aggressively down forestry roads with my enduro in the back. The snout is weirdly long for a transverse engine. Everything from the radiator forward is unused space. The snout holds the lights and that’s it.
